about the images

All the images are by the author, Kevon Andersen, unless noted in the cutline under the photo, and are copyrighted by the photographer.

The Two Oak Trees & Rolling Vineyard shot on the index page was taken in the Rockpile AVA above Lake Sonoma in October of 2008, as was the image above.

Part One:  Lack of Faith

Most of the images were taken in the Wine Country in the counties north of San Francisco (Sonoma, Napa, Lake & Mendocino), although a few were taken in Marin, Monterey, Santa Barbara and near San Luis Obispo.  The two shots of white-tail bucks were taken at Mt. Rainier National Park.  The chipmunk was taken in Hendy Woods State Park, Anderson Valley, Mendocino County, CA.  The two Roosevelt elk were taken at Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County, CA.

(Berry Falls, Big Basin State Park, Santa Cruz.)

Part Two:  False Hope

The images in the first four chapters of Part Two (Chapters 22-25) were taken up and down the Northern California Coast, from just below the Lost Trail in Mendocino County, in Van Damme State Park near Mendocino,  in Samuel Taylor State Park in Marin County, in Big Basin Redwoods State Park near Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz County, and in the protected watersheds and coast along Big Sur in Monterey County.
